This is a statement from Adam Telle in the office of Sen. Thad Cochran about Wednesday's vote on the economic bailout:
"The details of the legislation were just finalized this morning. This bill is very different from the $700 billion Paulson package presented last week, and contains far more oversight and protections for taxpayers. Senator Cochran is still seeking guidance from his constituents, economic experts, and Senate colleagues. This is a decision of significant consequence and one that Senator Cochran takes very seriously. He wants to make sure he does what is right for Mississippians.”
Senator Cochran plans to release a statement following tonight’s vote.
